Richard A. Lawhern is a technically trained non-physician with 20 years of experience in peer-to-peer patient support groups for chronic pain patients. His primary interests in the mental health field are with the misapplication of so-called "psychosomatic" medicine to patients with valid but unrecognized medical disorders, with the predictable consequence of denying them effective medical interventions and plunging them into deep depression and anxiety.
