And what does creativity have to do with it? Two psychotherapists, Hugh Polk and Rachel Mickenberg, share theĀ effectivenessĀ of social therapyĀ as a psychotherapy in which they and their clients together create emotional growth and healthāregardless of psychiatricĀ diagnosis or presenting problem.Ā In this webinar, Hugh and Rachel will introduce the ABCs of social therapy and how it is practiced in ongoing weekly therapy and community workshops of diverse groupings of people.Ā After that, four of their clients will join them to talk about their own adventures in creating their mental health and growing emotionally through social therapy. From these experiences, Tim has developed a training that redefines what is commonly termed, "psychosis" into eight components and likewise suggests eight corresponding solution strategies. Tim will be sharing parts of his training that are aimed at helping supporters joinĀ with people who are experiencing or needing to process their emergencies. RebPsych 2020: Decolonizing Mental Health asks what decolonizing mental health looks like today, and how we can build on these past efforts. We hope to raise questions about the colonial institutions and frameworks that currently inform our understanding of mental illness, addiction, or psychosocial distress.
