it would be neat to have, but i don’t know if it would be a lot of work or not…

That would be my #1 feature request, too, so I’ve been trying to investigate the possibilities.

Astonishingly, bbPress forums do not seem to have PM capability. 🙁

These were the top two search results:
    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/private-messages/
    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/private-messaging-4/

The developers at the links above recommend using the BuddyPress plugin, which does contain messaging but is a full-on social media suite. The BuddyPress site does say this, however:

If you only want to use a few features, BuddyPress will automatically adapt, showing only the menu items, pages and buttons for the features you have enabled.

No idea what just using the PM feature of Buddy Press would demand in terms of site resources.

There are also third-party Word Press plugins out there just for messaging, but no idea if they are reliable. Okay, I’m done. Already in way over my head…

    Thanks for looking that up…
It would be a good way to plan regional meetups and stuff, since most people probably can’t share their personal details publicly…

    Hi Nomad,
That looks like an interesting database for a certain type of research and discussion.
Personally, I’m not too concerned with what the middle class is predicated on, since I don’t live in the middle class.

My own fledgling forum, with a PM function. I’m using it now for my post backups. You are all invited. We need to communicate and PM’s open the door to exchanging email addresses, etc.

lily.c, I remember you AMN site. Love it.

In the US and the industrialized countries there is no class except for the middle class. What else there might have been would not be a working class. It might be an Underclass ( Lumpen’s ) or it is an untouchable caste.

So there is the middle-class, and there are those ejected from it.

However, though there is one class, not everyone supports the interests of that class. And I think this is what you mean.

Anyway, if you have endured any hardships in life, these probably are caused by middle-class values and the middle-class family. Capitalism and the middle-class family are two sides of the same coin, neither could exist without the other. And the enforcer is psychotherapy.

So you’ve got to have been impacted there somehow.

No, that is NOT what I mean.

That is not how I understand class structures, and I do not agree with Negri or Hardt about anything, but thanks for clarifying your stance.

So you have read Hardt and Negri? You disagree? I would be most interesting in discussing it with you.

Class structures? Well to have a Working Class, it requires class consciousness, so we have to create it anew in each era.

Neo-liberal doctrine and stuff like charter schools is aimed at blocking the formation of a working class.

Talked with some trade union members today, even their own young people don’t understand much about how the union works.

If you have had a hard life, then you almost certainly have been effected by middle-class values.

But Deleuze and Guattari , in the 4th division of Anti-Oedipus, do an excellent job of explaining why there is no other class, but there are some who advance middle-class interests and there are some who do not.

Interested to hear more about how you view these things. All the more so on account of you AMN connection.

Again, I don’t agree with this in regards to my own life.

I have no personal connection to the AMN Collective, I just strongly admire their prisoner solidarity work.

I admire the AMN collective too. And no, it does not support middle-class interests, even though I would still argue that there is now no other class.

I would say that anyone who is cognizant of animosity against their parents, has been severely effected by middle-class values. Not trying to make anybody wrong, but just maybe inviting people to look at things from different angles, as I also try to be willing to do.
