ParticipantAnd this:
Love the quick profit, the annual raise,
vacation with pay. Want more
of everything ready-made. Be afraid
to know your neighbors and to die.And you will have a window in your head.
Not even your future will be a mystery
any more. Your mind will be punched in a card
and shut away in a little drawer. When they want you to buy something
they will call you. When they want you
to die for profit they will let you know.
So, friends, every day do something
that won’t compute. Love the Lord.
Love the world. Work for nothing.
Take all that you have and be poor.
Love someone who does not deserve it.Denounce the government and embrace
the flag. Hope to live in that free
republic for which it stands.
Give your approval to all you cannot
understand. Praise ignorance, for what man
has not encountered he has not destroyed.Ask the questions that have no answers.
Invest in the millenium. Plant sequoias.
Say that your main crop is the forest
that you did not plant,
that you will not live to harvest.Say that the leaves are harvested
when they have rotted into the mold.
Call that profit. Prophesy such returns.
Put your faith in the two inches of humus
that will build under the trees
every thousand years.Listen to carrion — put your ear
close, and hear the faint chattering
of the songs that are to come.
Expect the end of the world. Laugh.
Laughter is immeasurable. Be joyful
though you have considered all the facts.
So long as women do not go cheap
for power, please women more than men.Ask yourself: Will this satisfy
a woman satisfied to bear a child?
Will this disturb the sleep
of a woman near to giving birth?Go with your love to the fields.
Lie down in the shade. Rest your head
in her lap. Swear allegiance
to what is nighest your thoughts. As soon as the generals and the politicos
can predict the motions of your mind,
lose it. Leave it as a sign
to mark the false trail, the way
you didn’t go.Be like the fox
who makes more tracks than necessary,
some in the wrong direction.
Practice resurrection.

ParticipantWow, this thread is all over the place. I love it!
Hey boans, Dwight Y’s in one of my favorite films – Sling Blade.
Hey schizoeffective, thanks for the Louis CK earlier. I’d been feeling badly about being all alone, but then I watched that and now I feel much better about it!
September 1, 2014 at 11:34 pm #46856boans
ParticipantBilly Bob Thornton was just great in Sling Blade wasn’t he?
“Doyle said I should call an ambulance or a hearst” lol
The tension that was a big part of it was done sooo well. Definitely a movie I recommend to people, though it does kind of reinforce the myth of the violent mentally ill.
I kinda like this thread being all over too. Maybe should have be titles Bridges, coz theres a number of crossings into different territory.

Participant“Is there a time for keeping a distance
A time to turn your eyes away
Is there a time for keeping your head down
For getting on with your dayIs there a time for kohl and lipstick
A time for cutting hair
Is there a time for high street shopping
To find the right dress to wear”Wise words boans.
It immediately brings to mind Tiresias.

A quote:
“According to the mythographic compendium Bibliotheke,[8] different stories were told of the cause of his blindness, the most direct being that he was simply blinded by the gods for revealing their secrets”
And such is my path for the last many years. I’m a hot chick. Always have been. At 37 I look 25. I chalk that up to the reluctant gifts of constant stress and grinding poverty. I hide my light. I hide my femininity, behind dark, clowny, Ill-fitting clothing. I hide my eyes behind thick glasses. I could put on contacts, but I choose not to. I choose to be hidden, and quiet. Underneath that shroud is, lively femininity. I go back under that shroud, year after year, and day by day, because when I let it peek out, Eden burns all around me.
This is a time for careful calculation. I’ve spent many years keeping my mouth shut tight. Just staying quiet, unobtrusive, that has kept me unmedicated, out of institutions, and free to be a mad girl on my terms.
This website is the first place I’ve let my voice speak, without days of editing out the crazy. I can sense it is time to pull back into the grounded coherence that other dimensions of experience cannot understand.
I saw you comment on sadism recently boans. Now isn’t that a can of worms! As a lifetime masochist I’ve made friends with many a personal demon through confronting my broken sexuality head-on, and made it new again in the process. Switching between both roles. Obeying the law of “do no harm.” To myself and my former clients. Bless them all, they have given me more than I could ever give them.
How do you determine the authenticity of “safe sane and consensual”? How do you navigate a BDSM scene full of sociopaths, and those re-traumatizing themselves? You make sure that this is the fruit of your play… if you choose to engage those drives.
Are all involved walking taller afterwards?
Are all involved healthier, stronger and more able to love themselves and others?
If I could not search my soul and find an unequivocal YES to those answers.
I would never pick up a whip or a pink tutu and advance toward the male. Even if that is what he begs for.
I would not pick up a ball-gag, or a shibari rope, and advance toward the female. Even if that is what she begs for.
Just my opinion, just my experience.
You guys rock.
The last few weeks have been hell. You guys have really helped me make it through, still standing tall.
So much gratitude to
Uprising and boans!Another gift:

ParticipantThe Tears for Fears track on Donnie Darko was Head over Heels. Gary Jules Mad World is a powerful song, and great with footage from the movie.
Picking top 5 movies was tough (not one Kubrick in my list?), but books wow. The ones that have had the biggest influence on me
The Art Of War, Sun Tzu
The Hagakure, Yamamoto Tsunetomo
The Genealogy of Morals, Freiderich Nietzsche (Beyond Good and Evil a close call)
1984, George Orwell
I, Robot, Issac AsimovThere are so many others that come to mind though.
On the Road, Jack Kerouak was the only book I ever read that was like a piece of music.I actually went to see Public Enemy and Ice T in concert Schizoeffective. They wouldn’t let Ice T do Cop Killer, so they played the track through the P.A. for two hours before the concert lol.
I love your drawing. Lot of symbolism in it.
I just finished watching an Australian movie called “He Died with a Felafal in his Hands”. Think you might enjoy it, not action packed but a good movie.
Bit of music from the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.

ParticipantThe Dwight Yokum song is a remake-I heard this when young on the radio-Elvis!
Love the Wendell Berry bit-glad to learn new things…have been off the grid, or without video, computer, TV for decades so behind with the movies/music…I read a lot…recently read a book ‘My Tender Matador’ by Pedro Lemebel.
Love the Greek tragedies-some themes just keep repeating, don’t they?
Thanks for all the food for thought here-and DVD recommendations.
Will check in when I can…carry on;)

ParticipantYes humanbeing, Elvis’ version is probably better, but I do like Dwight Yoakam.
Saw a couple of documentaries last night. One on heroin addicts in Afghanistan, and the other on the law of “joint enterprise” in the UK.
They were both good, but the second one caught my interest because of the “anti association laws” that have been passed here. I think a lot of people are going to get caught up unjustly in these nets.
Your walking along the street with someone you know has a knife, they get into a fight and kill someone, your guilty of murder by association. One young guy was two blocks away when the murder happened, still guilty and got 18 years.
Keep meaning to have a look at Diablo Canyon on google earth. Do it now I reckon.
