Amanda is journalist, editor, health advocate and Navy veteran with firsthand experience of VA healthcare. She’s also an avid endurance athlete and classically trained chef.
At her first command, the USS Dubuque, while serving as Combat Systems and Electronic Warfare Officer, she became a rescue swimmer. At Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group One she served as Communications Officer. Deployments took her to Iraq and around the Pacific Rim. Before, during and after her time in service, Amanda was an Ironman triathlete and 19x marathoner. Amanda holds a bachelors from Boston University, a culinary arts Grand Diplome from Le Cordon Bleu, and a masters from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
