Inviting Humanitarian Conversations Beyond Formulaic Relationships:
Fostering Spaces for Cures, Wellness, and Healing from Mental Illness Narratives

Now I See A Person Institute is excited to announce another conference featuring a panel of speakers who embody innovation and heroism in our field. The panel will include clinicians, former learners, and recovery consultants who have previously sought services. Their lived experiences highlight the importance of collaborative-dialogical practices for those once deemed unchangeable or lost.

This chorus of voices inspires hope and offers insights on how practitioners can normalize their roles and cultivate genuine, caring relationships. These connections promote the cessation of symptoms, challenge limiting mental illness narratives, and foster a sense of freedom. We hope our new friends and colleagues can join our community to explore and experience often unheard narratives and collectively engage with how we can change ourselves for the Other.

Neuroplasticity: A Path for Healing from Protracted Withdrawal Symptoms

1:00 pm 2:00 pm
August 17, 2024

Time Zone: Eastern Time

Mad in America presents a panel discussion on neuroplasticity and how it offers hope for healing from protracted psychiatric drug withdrawal symptoms. Neuroplasticity, a well-established scientific principle, highlights the brain’s remarkable ability to reorganize and form new synaptic connections, particularly in response to injury. While specific research on its application to psychiatric drug withdrawal is still forthcoming, a grassroots movement within the community is already leveraging these principles for healing.

Our panel features an inspiring group of individuals who have successfully used these concepts to recover from persistent drug withdrawal symptoms.  They will share their stories and a diverse array of strategies, including brain retraining, mind-body techniques, and graded exposure, among others.
