It really gets me worked up and skin hot like savage when commenters are skeptical to approach me with debate.
Solicitation. There’s a word for you. Don’t you think you owe an apology to those who accepted your solicitation? Unless they really wanted my support I wouldn’t bring it up. That’s something I don’t actually understand.
Speaking for myself I had to give up my second amendment because I’ve been hospitalized. Do you think I wanted that? As it happens I’m sick. Perhaps not everyday but there are days where it’s not absolutely safe.
The show starts now because Pat is here. Do you smoke cigarettes? Do you smoke doobie? Do you take Tylenol? Do you take blood pressure medicine? All these are CHEMICALS are they not?
As a matter of fact you should think about that next time someone debates with you on this website. What gives you the right to slam someone for utilization of medicine? Are you getting something out of these views in turn for your solicitation? Hypocrisy is astounding.
Besides it was a little creepy you kept getting that woman to go into more detail about psychiatric trauma sexual blog thing.
Yeah no thanks man.
The purpose of book was to teach the value of hard work. Doesn’t matter what type of work but that you do it with integrity.
No need that I share more. I like to actually communicate with people in reality as opposed to a screen in my underwear eating Rice Krispies.
I guess I’d probably have like a ton of replies if I transcended madness and extreme experiences and such.
Gee I guess my story wasn’t all really invigorating. Full of creative juices and what not. What it was and is is badass and genuine.
All quiet on the western front!
Not many people can silence a crowd with awkward moments like I do.
After my second hospitalization I was informed I had a mental illness that I’d be sick the rest of my life and I should think about relocating to a big city and living in residential living facility.
Later when I was let out my dad took me to Perkins. What’s wrong pal he asked? I said ya know dad the old Perkins doesn’t seem the same after being in psych ward.
I said how about dynasty buffet. An autobiography I had just completed said Chinese eatery was the only place a man and his mother who was suffering mentally could go without being hassled.
As a young man of 17 I thought to myself it’s just as the book described it to be. I ate some at the dynasty but when I got home I fixed a tuna sandwich on wheat.
My first day at the new public high school I went to didn’t run so smooth. First period swimming and I asked coach for a bigger swimsuit please. In turn he gave one big hoot on his whistle. Now on to showers where I was pelted by dial like soap bars repeatedly by dudes quite a bit taller than me. At this day in age they didn’t use hand soap dispensers.
Ahh third period math and falling asleep at my desk. Only to wake up with a laughing audience and a few friends along with it. An invitation to smoke a little dope and go golfing tomorrow. Just like that I’m the new kid with friends and for something like this. It’s indispensible I thought to be weird in this place.
I began to think its was going good until the end of the day. Walking home and along the way a dude asks me if I’m east side or west side. Not sure I thought but thought for a few seconds and answered both. This was preceded by staring back and forth for about a minute at least until he eventually walked away.
So there was me at seventeen and first day of new semester.
This story reminds me when I was a young man in my thirties socializing with adult female humanoids.
Approximately 74% of the time the group that calls themselves “females” had their noses in phones.
I mean it is the tendency of humans to utilize this device as it brings total satisfaction.
I tend to concur that humans are in absulute denial with iPhone addiction if they indulge on the initial date.
There is potential but not probability this could lead to hand to hand combat.
Hi dogle, This site likes to pick on people particularly women who join in the conversation.
You’re not the only one. Some of the blogs are nice so I read, but the commenters are too terrible for me to participate.
When Dreby got kicked out I decided then and there I needed to make a scene. I didn’t wanna remain there.
Pat out.
It’s s big world and Better to serve others with respect and give them space with their views. I’m no longer attending our national events.
I remember all the times I tried so hard and you laughed in my face cuz you held the cards. -pc
So long mad in America. I’m done. Pat out.
Thank you very much for noticing that. I corrected that. Please use this url.
Whoops. I sad that being said but I meant to say with everything I said before but also….
It would be awesome if America could get a leader like The French president Emmanuel Macron.
A leader in America who comes from populist party who runs as independent and blends left and right.
Additionally picks good cabinet members with same views.
Anecdotally “one” of the richest countries in world has individuals of all creeds vying the path of America citizenship.
I Love it because I see it and they have the drive and mentality to Strive for the American dream.
So many of you here as well as many American people have forgotten that mindset.
I see it daily. Americans are working and busting chops of a foreign born national working as peer. They don’t let others see them sweat though cuz they got it!
Although after working as peer he/she goes to second job. Later they increase their education.
And then also you have those not working that much going on about America this and that. Somebody should have told you America will eat you alive if you think that way.
Just s sidebar on the conversation.
Peer is a great job because it’s privilidge to help others but also because for many peers its re entry to working again. Service to others is healing.
I would say though that many people who comment would not be hired because of their all or nothing views.
It’s not professional to model that to others because your placing your views on them when they dont ask for it. If they want to know or ask you then that’s unique scenario and it can be done, but good idea to use ethics and be respectful not to push your views.
In any case a peer run respite ideal over the hospital.
With me it remains a disability I have although I see an essential need for Personal Responsibility with my outcome.
Of course there are days I need medical intervention and I happen to be thankful for it when it comes.
I mean without the intervention I remain a monster wherefore incapable of deliverance. You may as well dissolve acid on my face and send me to some medieval castle.
All comments thus far are essentially (complaining) as he described in his blog. I think my comment above is superior and the way to go.
Need I say more on this blog? The answer is no.
Thank you yet another,
“But beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi-Wan’s apprentice.” – Yoda
Will, I’m a big supporter of your work.
My plan of attack for all your points is that I plan to vote for the 3rd party candidate as I always do now. I voted for Dr. Jill Stein in 2016 and do this for local as well.
I voted for her because I figured our country has a sensuous woman that could unite all females. Also I was attracted to her intelligence and impressive background. I saw a candidate who could bring in votes from all backgrounds. Sa la vie.
Also wanted to say it’s true that we have acquired larger numbers and fight for recovery and wellness services in our communities. That remains superbulous for me.
I would but I’m not on social media.
I’m very active and when I get home I read or listen to alternative news sites and this website also. This is actually the only site I’ve commented the whole time I’ve used internet.
Mental states as pendulum and behavior as swinging to and fro. Pendulum works on premise of balance.
Although human psyche undergoes awful sorrow and bliss that makes studying it an abstract concept.
It’s posturized that the suffering leads to feeling stronger inward and better psyche.
Because the mind or psyche is abstract it requires supporters to use different interventions…(peer support, family, therapy, medication, service to others, mindfilness, spirituality, changing negative thoughts to positive, pet therapy, massage, osteopathy, companion therapy)
I would need to apply enumeration although there is reservation I offer proclamation and this is not exaggeration.
In my mind when I feel palpitations with exciting lamentations meaning I have infatuation for ironic calculation.
Adherence outlining whereby need incitation in order to find the motivation for the invitation.
Because it gives me something to do.
Also because I’ve been talking the the people you call your friends and it seems that me there’s means to an end. They don’t care anymore. What you say.
That’s thev way it’s done for those of you in reality and not operating on fringes of mad in America.
To win a debate with folks here you hardly ever justify your points with what you actually do. They use that as excuse to laugh in your face. Also it diminishes how hard you worked to be where you are at now.
My points talked about how causes are many and varied. That is obvious to a child. It’s like conventional wisdom.
Sometimes you can love it away. Sometimes you can therapy it away. And sometimes if you need to you can try medication.
ALSO the human heart is equal in the blame for mental states.
The different systems in body play on one another and this is true for the brain as well. I think the author is going to great depths when referring to mental states to explain the opposite of what I just mentioned.
With depression is the cause more of breakdown of bodily system (such as endocrine) that the central nervous system needs to communicate with brain as opposed to serotonin being prevented from going to brain? (AR database)
With above said are the depression medications actually working with neurotransmitters the way needed? I think no actually.
Medicines work better for schizophrenia in more cases then they do for depression.
This is because the medicine is targeting correct function sometimes in schizophrenia but not really that much with depression.
With having schizophrenia it targets neurotransmitters in effective way thus alleviates pain but not cure.
Super man: please listen and stop defending yourself.
Everybody else: ok I’m ready to listen.
Super man: you lack all of these qualities that are needed to be a good mental health professional.
Everybody else: ok Thats nice to know Goodbye.
Super man: mad in America supporters will you buy my book.
Thanks for not advising me to leave the website and find somewhere better for me.
All I know is I feel like I’m one of sickest men in the world if I don’t utilize medicine. I know there are other people as sick as me.
The medicine definitely helps me.
America is giving people with disabilities a monthly check which is a lot more than most countries do and it’s obvious many people are scamming our system to receive disability.
Think about that before you unjustly come to conclusions about how things run in America.
One major reason foreign born nationals strive to come to America. Another example of white privilege coming from Monica and Richard who are supposedly people who counter white privilege.
How about presumtive disability payments for majority you and Monica which means more information needed to handle claim. This way individuals that have a disability can obtain social security disability payments with less hassle.
They truly deserve it period.
In my life I prefer to say I’m Pat and I have mental health challenges.
All I said was that it’s obviously untrue what she wrote about psychosis pretty much going away. See my above comment
Would you rather I don’t comment?
Glen Close is really hot woman.
You say “When one matures enough to become an observer of their thoughts and become discerning about the content of their thoughts, psychosis pretty much goes away… clarity ensues.”
This is without a doubt spurious. That’s all I need to say.
The part about language pretty good. You talk about psychosis as analogous which it’s not. Individuals that experience it are not all the same.
That contradicts that language thing you we’re saying.
Dr.s who champion innovation and serve individuals way they are supposed to are in fact adapting to the system and supporting needed transformation.
I think dr.’s adopted the current service mechanism. They took on this approach and it goes way back.
What I would do is question why judge gave Stanford swimmer six months for alledegly assaulting an unconscious woman but this case a young woman goes to prison for quite a few years.
Being that both in the national news seems like relevant discussion.
Based on what you say above I call this hearsay. Lawyer probably kept repeating that as texts are viewed with scrutiny to allow a lower verdict. It is a bit steep in my opinion.
To Dr.
1) To have a monopoly and
2) Too many Americans overuse medications.
No matter how thin you slice it there are always two sides – Spinoza.
I know that I must take the medication I have been given. It also goes against my personal philosophy to take something I don’t need.
In reality it was hope – hopelessness – helplessness.
Helplessness is the intrinsic feeling you may have working within mental health care.
The nice, articulate young woman was showing how hearing voices group administer hope if you feel helpless to support someone in their recovery. That is how I read it anyway.
Hey if the problem is high potency THC happening due to industry and that some people use medical marijuana with other drugs here is solution.
Allow USA citizens to grow their own in their back yard and will be able to go back good THC levels.
If they grow too much or sell make that illigal.
Ok I’ll come forth. These are not my theories. They were already written by my hero who I won’t mention. I’ll make you work for it you concur with my supposition.
Really all I did was compile his work and mad in America articles and a couple of my ideas and fill in the rest. This wouldn’t be my social work thesis anyway as I’m considering applying to graduate school.
I didn’t see ur above reply so here I go.
Supposition is that medicines work better for schizophrenia in more cases then they do for depression.
Ur question is: if some cases of depression/psychosis are caused by biology alone, how specifically do you distinguish which cases are or are not?
Pat response is: U can’t sort it out and that is what makes psychology its own unique soft science. In addition If u live it enough to understand how bad it hurts nobody has to know or sort out. If u know u had it wrong. U use what helps.
I personally think service to others and peer support help a lot of people that have depression. I also promote reading spiritual books whatever ur denomination is or self help for those agnostic. Actuall for those are agnostic I might suggest philosophy for much better than self help I think.Person could move from Nietzke to Kierkagaard. Ah what a gift for me and done from persons own volition.
Well this site reviews studies. Although signifiant I proposed a genuine and alternate theory to work from. In turn I solved riddle as to how severe major depression tends to recur throughout life.
Could this also be reason benzos come into picture so often with having depression and anxiety?
Are u all so against viewing above supposition because its biological and dismiss it entirely?
Comment removed for moderation
Damn… I guess my supposition wasn’t written that well. I worked hard on that. Next time I’ll be more clear and succinct.
I was going over my studies and although not certain mentioning that medicines work better for schizophrenia in more cases then they do for depression.
My studies lend that medicines work better for schizophrenia in more cases then they do for depression.
I have schizophrenia and it turns out that There are actually three causes of schizophrenia. One is firing if neurotransmitters within central nervous system bring out of whack. (Medicine works – allieviates here).
The additional two are hormone regulation and functioning of the endocrine bodily system and third an environmental trigger such as a history of trauma.
Knowing that a psychotropic alters the function of neurotransmitters The medicine for other two causes may make not work for better.
My studying for those that have depression is that the cause is more of breakdown of bodily system (such as endocrine) that the central nervous system needs to communicate with brain as opposed to serotonin being prevented from going to brain.
Those two theories have some similarities but vastly different. Are the depression medications actually working with neurotransmitters the way needed? I think no actually. It may be a bit different to many of you in trained in medical field.
So my studying leads me to think that medicines work better for schizophrenia In most cases then they do for depression it turns out.
This is because the medicine is targeting correct function sometimes in schizophrenia but not really that much with depression.
This article references your main point about prescriptions rising, although I continue to see depression as biological in many cases particularly severe cases. Although this not Pat’s opinion for all people that have depression – see article.
I think depression not as much serotonin being PREVENTED from communicating with brain via central nervous system but more so a BREAKDOWN of bodily systems (for example endocrine system )which the central nervous system NEEDS to communicate with the brain.
So all in all both theories rely on a communication issue from central nervous system to brain and therefore (biological ).
Regards to previous blog on peer support – Well peer support and service to others is one of main (non mediation ) therapies for treating depression. So fabulous reason to join the expanding peer workforce.
The eagle has landed.I repeat the eagle has landed. Boogie on out of there commodore Pat. ( I aint in the navy….just lightening the mood)
Peer support is about being the expert at not being the expert and that takes expertise. Learned that from recovery innovations training I attended in 2010.
If u live it up enough to understand it nobody has to know. If u know u had it wrong. – RF
Firsties!!
U want to understand mental health challenges. Often believe U know the issues. Nobody needs to know. If u know u have it wrong.
Thats what I think of this place.
I can love it away with family and friends/peers.
I can use therapy from an array of mental health professionals (peer run programs, peers, psychologist, social workers).
If needed I can try medication.
There is help available. That’s the way I see it and that’s what I did in my life.
Only mentioned Steve Harrington because I don’t want this east coast newspaper leading this movement.
I need the medication I take to survive and take care of my family. I’ll keep commenting here until I’m censored. I was ridiculed on here for saying that a few months ago so I’m certain I don’t need you being in the forefront leading our movement.
And the ilk (authors/commenters) here lash out at powers that be in Manhattan . Your movement may have a lot of people and a mixture of cultures, but 95% white people write here because they feel comfortable doing that. Authors here are white privilege turned on it’s head and then heels again.
The rest of us know better and cow tow and some bow down as well. Actually we realize its better to pick and choose our battles, speak clearly & calmly, provide genuine knowledge and give hope that one day powers that be will make changes that will benefit us.
For readers more on centric side google search Steve Harrington’s “organizational culture change can help mental health centers thrive” article. When talking about this topic, Steve’s work matters.
It’s signifiant to me for when I read a few of his articles several years ago I reached out to him to get more involve (inter) nationally. I like his style and appreciated his uncanny way of involving all stakeholders and listening. Anyhow his article provides outstanding ways people in recovery can make change happen when employed by an agency. Not everybody in the USA creates change like the east coast advocates. In general the east coast is the scourge of planet Earth.
