It is now clear to me that psychiatry and its labeling process is exemplary of reification fallacy wherein psychiatry attempts to concretize the idea of mental illness thereby “conflating ideas about reality, with reality.”
“Seeing the forest for the trees”is a favorite metaphor of mine. “Big picture awareness” is fundamental to living well, transcending while maintaining connection.
Another irony I did not make clear in the blog is that the initial opportunity for learning how to connect with psychological intimacy was in talk therapy with a psychoanalytically trained psychotherapist. The re-traumatizing search into my abusive past is definitely a questionable technique for learning how to achieve the skill of connection.
