What I understood when I was hallucinating – Sonia’s Story

From Mad in Italy: When I had what can be called hallucinations it was during the period when the diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder made by a psychiatrist in Florence a few years earlier hovered over me. I was taken to this psychiatrist on the advice of the family doctor, because I had periods in which I alternated to phases in which I locked myself in the house and I was sick, I suffered without understanding why, other phases in which instead I felt more euphoric, energetic, with a great desire to do, without ever having done dangerous things, spent beyond my means, only the two phases alternated.
