From Mad in Denmark: I think it’s like that for a lot of us who haven’t gotten the help we thought we could get through public services. We’ve been left alone with it. It could be the person with a disability who lost the fight to get what they were entitled to. It could be the person with mental illness for whom the battle becomes too much, and you give up and let yourself be carried away by psychiatry’s stories about diseases of the brain.
The other day I found my community. I was invited to the capital to participate in debate and constructive talk about psychiatry. Here were professionals of various kinds, people with lived experiences with mental illness. Here were relatives of people living in psychiatric care.
