Summary
The film portrays the life of Brian Wilson, the brilliant composer and creative force behind the band The Beach Boys. Featuring strong performances from a talented cast and a soundtrack filled with iconic music, it offers plenty of reasons to watch.
The story shifts between two periods in Brian’s life: his early years as a gifted young songwriter and band member, and his later life as an adult living under strict supervision. As the film unfolds, we see how he struggles with a severe mental health condition, eventually revealed to be schizophrenia, while being tightly controlled by his doctor and legal guardian.
Everything begins to change when Brian meets Melinda, a compassionate car saleswoman. Despite the constant surveillance, heavy medication, and mistreatment he endures, Melinda becomes a turning point in his life and helps him regain his independence.
In 1992, his doctor had his medical license revoked and was served with a restraining order. Brian went on to marry Melinda in 1995, and together they built a family. With the right care and support, he was finally able to heal from years of abuse and receive the treatment he deserved.
