From Mad in Greece: Jordan Reyne rose to prominence through her distinctly atmospheric and often dark music, which develops through the motifs and themes of Steampunk — an aesthetic and artistic movement that draws on steam-powered machinery, the Victorian era, and the Industrial Revolution. Incorporating folk and industrial elements simultaneously, she nonetheless manages to preserve her creative freedom without always confining herself to specific musical genres. This musical trajectory could have sculpted the public persona of an unequivocally successful artist whose life is pervaded by a sense of permanent euphoria. However, Reyne systematically deconstructs this idealized image, bringing her personal mental health experiences to the fore and approaching them critically through philosophical, sociological, and psychological tools.
