Christopher, I am so sorry that you’ve had such a rough ride getting help for your depression. I was a family therapist for 25 years, now writing fiction. I recently released my novel, THE RUBBER FENCE, inspired by my work on a psychiatric ward in 1972. I was a social worker in that hospital. In my novel, Dr. Joanna Bereza, a psychiatric intern tries to stop an arrogant shrink from shocking her patients. I’ve been surprised that there is now a resurgence of shock treatment. The arguments for and against that come up in my novel continue today. Wishing you all the best.
