thanks for writing such a great, thoughtful article! mentioning your visit to the graveyard at met state reminded me of visiting the cemetery at central state hospital down in milledgeville, georgia. i used to live about a hour and half away in athens for a few years. a community/interest group erected a simple memorial there at CSH, but the woods on the grounds of the old asylum have as many as 25,000 unmarked graves… so tragic. i’m a musician, and visiting and researching this place so powerfully effected me it even inspired my last record. thanks again, mark tulk.
