    I agree that it is a positive to have people being “honest”, HOWEVER, I think any use of the term “irreversible” is potentially both misleading and damaging. Nobody really understands the way the brain works (hence the problem with these medications in the first instance), but the recent past has shown us that with neuroplastic change it is impossible to determine that anything is “permanent” when it comes to brain changes. I would never subscribe to a Pollyanna-ish view that “we all heal no matter what” but there is good reason for hope that we can see a lot of improvement over time and I find references to things being irreversible as being potentially defeating for people seeking recovery. Mind-body studies would suggest that belief in the possibility of healing may well be crucial to seeing results.
