When I was going through opiate withdrawal from my pain medication, my parents did not understand it, therefore they called a crisis line which led to me being forced into a 3 day stay at a psych ward. By the time they came and took me there i was past acute withdrawal. I stated i need to go to drug treatment, but a criminal, i mean a psychiatrist decided otherwise after seeing me for 5 minutes. This traumatic experience was by far much worse than opiate withdrawal. I would go through withdrawal again if I had to choose between it and being traumatized by psychiatry again. The experience has left me with flashbacks and bad anxiety when in small spaces or rooms that the doors are closed. I seen what happens in those places. There is no justification for this. You are simply torturing people and leaving them broken. Maybe at best you can medicate someone into a false sense that they have been helped or cause Stockholm syndrome. Or kill them by calling everything a psychiatric problem therefore refusing to let them see an MD, while they are committed. When I went back to my doctors, MDs, they had to take me off the harmful medications i was forced to take, my parents astounded by what psychiatry advertises as help. This is not only my experience I got to see the distress, pain and torment caused to every, not just a few, every patient that was there with me. Personally i think that people who work in these places have to be sick individuals in order to do the job that they do. There is no way any good person could be involved with it and live themselfs. Although many justify the harm they cause to sleep at night. There should be no jutification of these methods. They are cruel and inhumane. One man told me that he would rather go back to prison, which says it all. Psychiatry has been justifying thier cruelty and inhumane practices since it was born, it needs to finally end.
