Thanks Ron for article. Here is Pat’s way to heal. I actually was in poor form about month ago. I just take try to take a break for week or so and chill at home. Check this YouTube video out.
I didn’t know that a high percentage of people take the prescription for a year or less.
That is a relevant piece of info. That is not a long time. With this, the percentage of people in USA and UK would than be lower than you are making it to be.
To make change happen be an advocate not an adversary.
That’s basically why I don’t join the canary club of mad in America.
Leadership is rising above and taking the high ground with people involved in order to make realistic change occur.
Just wanna say I’m not meek.
Pat out.
Thanks. I could have worded my comment better. I wasnt referring to you. I think it would be great to have nurse practitioner in my city with your mindset.
Congratulations on your award in Australia. They mentioned that on Oryx Cohen’s monthly empowerment podcast on unity radio.
Well I actually have to go to my psychiatrist so I can be alright.
I notice all the time that No individuals that are well known leaders ever defend those of us who need to keep getting services.
They give it lip service when it’s brought to attention about how it’s our right to choose and how some people need but seldom to never begin the conversation to defend.
It’s like they jump right in and comment on many other issues when they need to. Its the same when they give presentations in real life.
It’s not right.
Before psychosis and hospitalization I was a popular guy with plethora friends. It was fun but it wasn’t really that fantastic.
I started telling myself why not see what life feels like with nobody in my life. This saying helped me to come to grips with this. It was often hard especially when I was teenager and in twenties but I got used to it and then liked it
I like it even more now. Later on as I got older and have professional career I began to see more people flocking to me.
Idea – Have this new mental health center employ peers or people with lived experience.
They could be of assistance. Like to help be understood a bit more.
Perhaps peers transform center to be better agency like one before.
If peer support is wrong I don’t wanna be right.
Good writing. You’ve been through a lot.
Here is link to Iden Campbell’s mad in America piece titled: diversity: what solidarity looks like. I thought it was good to post in comment being that many commenters don’t agree with me.
Also significant to my stability was the solitude or loner lifestyle.
At first it was tough but than it dawned on me that before all this (psych ward, psychosis and all) I had good friends so why not see how it feels to live life with nobody.
This simple mental saying or technique or allowed me to cope with solitude. Now though I really enjoy it.
Want to be honest and proclaim this to you. Although I have schizophrenia I’m able to work full time because I take a medicine.
If I didn’t do this I would be very sick (yes disabled) and just working intermittently.
There is quite a bit more to it than the medication that led to stability. I also don’t drink or do drugs at all. I also work out six to seven days a week. Yes life has been quite a trip.
