That’s great. I’m glad for you that you had courage to give them a dial.
I refer to this point precisely sir when talking with individuals and families. The two seem markedly different. You included many valid points in your rundown.
In addition ya all I made quite a few attempts to reference this to everybody on here in comments over last year.
I’m going to send this article to my dad. He has clinical depression. Over the years I witnessed how serious it is.
He and I are the individuals in immediate family that have mental health challenges painful enough to involve hospitalization and decades of hardship.
Pat H bread butterski is to walk in there each morning and say howdy.
And I meditate about the good ideas of colleague or two that have recovery champions that support career goals and contribute to good work cimate.
Hey come on. There are two things about this article that I noticed. Two. 8:10 times comes back to service to others yes and building on how to improve mindset h.
Hey. Checked article in long nb while. Came back b. In one blogs covered spirituality mechanism to iniate event to unfold.
That struck me as interesting.
I get good ideas when it comes to this specific topic during the Zumba class. I attend several times weekly after I’ve hit the gym. It is predominantly people my age l all actually and it’s just what I need as a 40 year old man.
Psychiatric practice could go together with neuroscience. Like be improved a lot to be included with neuroscience. Reading Oliver Sax I think I would improve field a lot for people who utilize and access psychiatry.
It’s all wrong, but it’s alright. I would crawl across border for that. There was nothing there but it was necessary for me to walk that way.
because I learned the way to get an respect and a moment with influential individuals. This can be significant in the mental health debate currently happening in the world.
because that’s only way that can ever get the necessary discourse that’s needed in the mental health debacle underway.
Everybody will instantaneously understand when there is a there is a chance for us to showdown and ya know advocate in an audience of prestigious individuals. Well have the time to get d are point across. because well you know. You’ll know it then.
Best.
Nice work Philip. I myself have tried to write on this topic a few times but was not able to do so. You too alright good article.

There awesome. The best. There’s not much more to say.
Oh it’s great c working at the center and not even beginning to describe in detail.
Fine after while. On one occasion we went to park and had picnic and therapy. We made real tomato ketchup p c said. Smiles and good times after all it was over as last year we did it too.
Then scene was viewing walking to their car and I was just about to pack all the agency belongings and head back there. It’s something I’ll always remember and then tada hhmmhh. It was totally worth it. The day went great.
Oh c. I thought the tv show perception was a really accurate way to look at psychosis. Umbdg
Although in the show my swt c dng he goes to hospital in crisis and this is not necessarily ideal each instance. M hdg be qit fk Everything to take care of self could be done at peer respite or also home. Sometimes a hospital stay may be what’s needed.
When an agency experiences culture change than peer specialist’s are not token employees.
I think Inaops should be covering value of peer specialist with great detail but they are mostly older generation. Great advocates in the past but not open to younger people’s ideas. You can look at their board and see if you agree or not.
Eventually a few of the peer specialist’s after proving to be competent and valuable could move in the direction of the first peer run respite.
Then there would be an alternative to hospitalization and even forced hospitalization.
This mentality on change is better than tyraids from your home computer about how you know best.
It takes persistence. When working with persons in authority mumbling under your breath in order to stay calm and taking the high ground over and over for them to understand and for them to try something different.
The hospitals could bring someone like you with them to visit a nearby hospital that employs peer specialists.
Peer specialists can do much when employed within organization but vital to employ more than one. Preferably a handful simply because one peer specialist will get treated unfairly and unprofessional by many of the colleagues and the more support the better.
There are obviously additional reasons hiring more than one peer specialist is beneficial.
Mad In America does have numbers and readers from all over the globe.
One as mental health recovery movement big issue in modern world.
Secondly this website is actually a real media outlet. There aren’t many of those now so some people read just for the realistic debate of issues.
On the other side of token the commenters do not run the gambit amongst individuals impacted by mental health issues, but they do read.
I figured since people across all walks of life do read I’d be one of the few recovery commenters with alternate perspective. I think of myself as a different and more equipped counter culture.
Society has some great things, but I believe in me. I don’t try to emulate somebody else.
I’m ashamed of American commenters due to how other countries read this site. Have so much easier here. Don’t need you to post George Carlin video again about American living.
Pick up where you left off. I have a mental illness and had a traumatic brain injury tbi years ago. I can still work with having schizophrenia but couldn’t while I went through the tbi.
Try to let go of the past.
I was saying those behaviors can be disturbing. Literally the threshold for stress when a family member in that state is to the max.
To see but not to see is a good thing. – Pat H.
In fact those behaviors can be quite difficult. For parents but also for children if a parent is struggling.
I try to be sensitive to that and talk to people and limit bias. They go home to their lives with their individual circumstances in the end.
My main goal is to be pleasant and headstrong. Have the vocabulary to use in order to dialogue complex issues that come up.
Oh wow. That’s cool.
I dropped the label when a special individual didn’t treat me like a clown. I sing for you.
Quit it. No need to stinkbomb a good woman who didn’t say anything about your philosophy.
There are different levels of intensity and pain with psychosis.
I used to always end up at there and getting annoyed, now I just lay back and let em do it yeah. With the dvd of 1980’s science show nova hrpr that one Im square and life is dandy.
As for the label I didn’t like it but I learned to love it later.
Have you not seen people get knocked out of this forum repeatedly over the years? I’m not gonna explain because everyone has seen it over and over.
Don’t underestimate the man or women next to you that you think you know what’s best for.
Appreciate your comment however.
I need medication.
For the young folks listening: This article is overanalyzed a bit.
With bullying: You can’t change everybody. Pretty much just ignore and say it’s not worth it. Your life will significantly improve. Just try to say your honest thoughts. Don’t try to be like somebody else so that you will be you and no one else.
Just want to say that the funding system is like a black market. It’s surely clandestine.
Also note that all the specific services at mental health centers are diced like being on chopping block and have unique billing codes. This obviously perpetuates the issue.
I’d say at work I hide it fairly well. In my cubicle I mutter to myself under my breath about everything happening.
When I leave work and head to the gym it’s totally different. I pretty much walk around talking to myself while I get workout in. Nobody seems to care that much but I can tell they are snickering. Not a big deal to me because I have like no friends and also I’m in tremendous physical shape. Every week we (my lady and I) go to Zumba class. Other than this I really only go walking around the city for a few hours or stay home and read. Occasionally we go out of town to a play or just site seeing and see where the day leads us.
I dislike a great deal going grocery shopping so I try to have my lady do this for us. We eat at home almost every day of the year. My job is to pay the household expenses.
I fear for my life when I don’t take medicine. I’m threatened and harassed 24/7.
Auntie, I have a valuable insight. They didn’t pressure you at your annual visits so looking hunky dorry. Keep documentation.
The medicine I take saves my life. Often I can barely function with how loud and mean voices are. I don’t really think they should be notifying dr. though. I care about privacy and personal rights.
I hope I can comment because I’ve been restricted for way too long. Many moons I have been enjoying A novel with my furry feline by my side taking a moment to comment. My comments don’t post for long time or not at all. For long time all I said was random YouTube videos like song danger danger by naughty naughty or Gunther videos. Let me begin by saying excuse me but I was verklempt. I didn’t have the vanacular for my passion on the subject of mental health. Things have changed and I’m ready to be there for society at large. For folks who listen here but don’t join in. The you’s The me’s the everybody in between. The killjoys from band mbv, the Kingdom of crystal skull guys and gals who know things may not what seem but don’t agree with you either. The mom who watched the movie Canvas and she’d a tear for her family member, those who wimper in loneliness, the downtrodden and sullen.
Only wanted to jump in here and say that with depression the circumstances may be that one of the several bodily systems could be malfunctioning. Basically the messages from that system travel up to brain. That would make it hard for antidepressants to work very well but they do work in some circumstances. With psychosis the actual problem is in the brain or brain messenging or wiring. I think psychosis medicines probably work better because of this. Well that’s my two cents. See this url for how I gathered this line of thinking.
Maybe you guys and gals should interview that guy Richard Lewis who just wrote a song focusing on this topic. That’s uncool because he is one of the more prolific commenters on site and author too. Not saying I agree with blogs and comments here too much but I did notice that idiosyncrasy.
Great scenario Marie. That question is actually a great water fountain or copy machine conversation. Particularly if you were interested in asking another person for a night out or dinner date.
I didn’ like the way the HR staff didn’t address your concerns. As CEO of company I would correct that.
Additionally person administering personality inventory should probably review with you personally in a follow up scheduled meeting.
There are times when in vitro diagnostic testing could compete with gene research as to schizophrenia. As u are aware animal studies replaced human studies and now in vitro taking on a lot animal studies. See this url: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_vitro
Here it is laid out for ya all. When someone such as moi has an illness that has the strong biological component of the central nervous system (unique or different wiring) root cause then researchers could access in vitro testing to rule out environmental causes or trauma that results in diagnosis. I suppose in vitro could also rule out other underlying albeit biological root causes. Actually psychotropics wouldn’t alleviate symptoms with those. See last paragraph of comment where I highlight this.
This usually done with extrapolation methods. “Results obtained from in vitro experiments cannot often be directly applied to predict biological responses of organisms to chemical exposure in vivo. Therefore, it is extremely important to build a consistent and reliable in vitro to in vivo extrapolation method. ” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_vitro_to_in_vivo_extrapolation
So back to the above point on using psychotropic medicine and the direct result is an alleviation of symptoms because these medicines change behavior of the neurotransmitters.
There are actually three causes of schizophrenia that I have deciphered and there are likely more as schizophrenia is apparently an illness of unknown origin. The additional two are hormone regulation and functioning of the endocrine bodily system and also an environmental root cause such as a history of trauma.
The illusion of the medical profession is that they can treat all cases of schizophrenia with a psychotropic. Knowing that a psychotropic alters the function of neurotransmitters it would hold true that they would only alleviate pain if the schizophrenia was caused by the central nervous system.
If schizophrenia was caused by hormones or a broad range of environmental factors psychotropic wouldn’t assist but would actually make recovery more difficult. You’d also be introducing a new biological component to the body which could even look like an illness, but in theory it would be the pharmaceuticals. This is particularly troublesome for someone that had an onset of symptoms due to an environmental cause.
To spend all that time researching and then not provide the findings is ludicrous.
I support the forensic mental health law and rulings but due to your age, demographics and no prior mental health challenges I can’t believe you released so soon. The young people who had adolescent onset of mental health issues often stay well beyond five years.
Onset at young age is often troubling and difficult. That stinks many individuals stuck there now.
I’m picking on hypocritical thought process. He cuts those down and is very insensitive although claims he is standing up for us. Could be a nurse Ratchet. Same rhetoric.
A highly trained interrogator or a Thomas Harris already knows this man’s real intentions.
If you are mad about one thing Sadie it can be hard to get a grip.
He may struggle to focus and get back on your way. With meditation the hay is in the barn. Meditation can allow someone to get away from stressful environment in their own mind and find peace.
I should get a band together like bonfire Hanigan and Sascha A Dubral and call it: The medicine takers.
Those two rock. They’re not bad.
Considering majority people with mental illnesses take medicine can you refrain from scaring about on and off meds data. You’re not curing anybody but just making it more embarrassing. Find a new method of discord and discontent and leave us alone. You’re close to being the culprit now.
An American guaranteed income is a free ride for everybody. Being that it is apparently doable outlined by the economist Friedman in the 1950’s my belief is it would be wise to go ahead although to cipher these guaranteed income funds into a comprehensive retirement system to supplement social security. Better to give to people that have worked whole life as opposed to money for everybody. That way America appropriately provides for its senior citizens.
I mean after all their work contributions over the decades pays for the social security disability payments which I say by the way are well deserved for mental health disabilities. I want to make that clear. These challenges are not insubstantial as commenters lay claim, but challenges are very harsh.
No problem. Good reply comment.
So this may sound implausible, however often some good ciphering is the way. What’s that you may wonder? Aww well that’s when you spend a night or two by yourself on the back deck or while hiking and quietly determine whether have biological reason, nurture/environmental cause or an attitude dilemma.
These distinctions are scarcely defined to having depression but center on spectrum of mental health challenges.
This is not insensitive although I’ve been ingrained to feel that having recovery journey that involves hospitalizations is one way to think about these distinctions. Often if road has been formed out of pleasure and chisled by pain it may be due to attitude dilemma. Third an environmental stressor leaves no words but to each his own.
Please look up the definition of prejudice. Then read your comment again.
Nice comment although if you commented more maybe commenters understand we have many viewpoints in this debate.
You can’t distinguish very well between biological explanations, nurture/environments events and attitudes that implant fatigue.
Point two is maybe the rise in individuals that have depression is from the ECOLOGICAL aspect. Meaning the how living organisms relate to one another and surroundings on mass scale.
Where we were decades ago is like the ice age when you look at where we are now pertaining to involvement and community dynamics. For better or worse is this portrayal with community. To be undone this community framework now and move forward better is ideal. See Wikipedia ecology page https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecology
May need to cipher these unique distinctions out within your own mind frame and make an informed decision.
These individuals probably don’t like being referred In that manner.
From time to time I rangle a compliment so as not to tarnish the dangerous road they traveled by. I may throw some sunshine their way and it goes “hey you are a strong person. You’ve been through a lot.”
Also to Peer or Recovery Support Specialist I say this again to you.
I like to mention to people that have mental health challenges in my community that they are strong. I like to say from time to time so they know.
Simply calling to issue that antidepressants and psychotropics prescription rates have more than doubled over years and saying we need to curtail this would be helpful. I mean that’s pretty well known and people can determine if they want to try or not. That’s how I see it. I’d feel ultra insensitive if I pushed one way or another on people in recovery. That’s a bias too.
With me I like to go home after long hard day and listen to good music. See this video message to illustrate.
Hi, Intersting point about being loyal to agency or persons lived experience. As to this point at first working as peer in the service delivery system is total satisfaction but it can take a toll after a while.
I try to take a moment and say to the peers I have worked with for a long time that they are strong. I just like to mention that to them time after time so they know.
As for me I like to go home after long hard day lay down, stare out window and listen to good music. See this video message to illustrate.
What do you mean by all of psychiatry hurts everyone?
Is this a joke? I mean you work in psychiatry. Are you better than everyone else who works hard to help others?
Bonnie, Here is what I think. I wouldn’t take away persons right to do ect if they wanted because it may be only thing that helps. No forced ect! 100 % opposed to that.
Point two is that I think ect is an ultra powerful machine and probably too powerful. There are probably more ideal or sophisticated ways to use this this technique or technology.
Also see my video message highlighting the duality here? Tell me all that you know and I’ll show you snow and rain?
No problem. You’re survey is terrific.
