  • There are a lot of people who consider magnesium deficiency to be the direct underlying cause of their “anxiety” but they would certainly not consider it to be the underlying cause of all “anxiety” in all people. It makes sense to me that a deficiency in an element required for normal central nervous system functioning could cause a symptom that, for lack of a better word, people call “anxiety”. I just finished reading the full version of the power-threat-meaning framework and liked most of what I read. The part I am left grappling with, though, is how do people like streetphotobeing get the help they need when dealing with an underlying physical problem that may inappropriately get stamped with a DSM label or incorrectly considered a “power imbalance” when all he needed to feel better was to correct the underlying magnesium deficiency.
