  • Nancy,

Thank you for this article. I have been looking into getting off this stuff for a while and this has given me much hope!

I have been on Seroquel for over 10 years. I have been in recovery from addiction/alcoholism for over 7 years. Before I got clean/sober, I was on over 600mg of Seroquel. Now I am down to 200mg for sleep. I have suffered from horrible insomnia for years, which had to do with some of my addiction issues in just trying to get some sleep, which is how I became addicted to benzos, alcohol, opiates… Seroquel is the only medication I am taking now. Before I got sober, I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. I have had my days but getting clean and sober really helped and I don’t really have a lot of mood swings. The only real issue now is insomnia. I read your article and nearly flipped because over the last year, I feel like I have been continually sick from something…my eyes are more sensitive and I have more of a sensitivity to chemicals. Plus, the efficacy of the Seroquel is fading because I am up 4 times a night anyway…usually eating because of the appetite stimulant effect it has. I really want to get off the stuff. I have ADD to begin with but I am noticing my ADD issues really increasing and I am wondering if the seroquel is also contributing to that.

I noticed you wrote this article like 3 years ago, which was 1 year post getting off the stuff. So I was wondering how you are going now? I was also wondering who else out there has come off of Seroquel successfully. I have been dealing with insomnia for half my life and I would be so grateful and happy if there was a solution to beast that doesn’t require crazy drugs.

Any advice, encouragement is greatly appreciated.
    Blessings
