Coming Off Psychiatric Meds

Comingoff.com is a website that “…aims to give you up to date information about psychiatric medication, how it functions and the withdrawal process. It is put together by people who have been prescribed medication and withdrawn from it, and clinicians who have been involved in supporting this process.”

The website is divided into several sections:

  1. Your Medication: Provides information about each class of psychiatric drugs about how the drug interacts with the brain, adverse effects of the drug, potential withdrawal effects, and suggested rates of withdrawal
  2. Alternatives: Includes an overview of several alternative modalities of healing – autogenic meditation, spinning, breathworks, and rhythms
  3. Stories: Individuals’ accounts of withdrawing from psychiatric medications, how they did it, what was useful to them in the process, and how they overcame any hurdles
  4. Planning: Guidance on all of the various factors to consider when planning your withdrawal process, such as how quickly to reduce your medication, alternative methods of mood and emotion regulation, developing a support system, and general health and well-being
