36,835 is a 9 hour and 41 minute performance exploring the overabundance of psychiatric medicine in the lives of Americans, particularly young women. Using her own experience as a catalyst for conversation, Jodie Goodnough counted the number of pills (anti-depressants, mood stabilizers and anti-anxiety medications) she’s ingested over the last 17 years. The final video piece is the full 9 hours and 41 minutes.

Push from Jodie Goodnough
Push is a work about seduction and repulsion. It deals with the push and pull between wellness and illness, between doctor and patient, and between the pharmaceutical industry and consumers. Push is meant to be shown projected very large, with the sound surrounding the viewer, creating an immersive experience that is uncomfortably beautiful.
