We are pleased to let you know that over the past week Bruce Levine’s seminal article Why Anti-Authoritarians are Diagnosed as Mentally Ill has caught fire with a whole new demographic, garnering over 25,000 new readers. Over half of those came in just yesterday.
This the largest spike in traffic we’ve had, and we’re learning about the limitations of our current technical setup. In order to deal with the traffic I’ve had to disable many features of the site, including our “popular” widget and some additional commenting features. As soon as traffic levels out all our features will be available again.
In the meantime we are investigating options for a more robust architecture, which will allow us to gracefully handle large bursts of traffic in the future.
