“Small Talk Can Improve Health”

Scientific American reports on a March 25 article in  Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences that finds that even superficial contact with people improves health. “There’s ample evidence that loneliness relates to well-being and other health outcomes besides death,” says the study’s author, “But our study suggests a broader view of beneficial social relationships. They’re not simply to do with close emotional relationships.”
