The Council for Evidence-Based Psychiatry

The Council for Evidence-Based Psychiatry (CEP) exists to communicate evidence of the potentially harmful effects of psychiatric drugs to the people and institutions in the UK that can make a difference. The CEP’s members include psychiatrists, academics, withdrawal support charities, and others who are concerned about the prevalence of the medical model and the increasing number of prescriptions for psychiatric drugs being given to both adults and children.

The CEP’s website provides substantial information on withdrawal. Its “Withdrawal Advisers” section features videos from withdrawal counselors and people with lived experience of psychiatric drug withdrawal that provide information about withdrawal symptoms and tapering advice. Additionally, the “Recovery Videos” section features videos from several people who have successfully tapered from psychiatric drugs.

Mad in America hosts blogs by a diverse group of writers. These posts are designed to serve as a public forum for a discussion—broadly speaking—of psychiatry and its treatments. The opinions expressed are the writers’ own.
