From Mad in the U.K.: In this blog an anonymous author describes the painful and re-traumatising process of accessing a Personal Health Budget (PHB) from the NHS to fund a package of individualized support. This is in recognition that mainstream Mental Health Services couldn’t cater for what they felt were her ‘complex needs’. The author’s journey was difficult and at times, soul destroying. Although she is grateful for the support she now has, there are lessons to be learned if others are to avoid the additional pain she experienced at a time of acute crisis.
