From Mad in Mexico:Â We, members of the Front for the Liberation of the Insane, are former mental patients and people whom society calls insane. We are beginning to unite – beginning to see that our problems are not individual, nor due to personal maladjustments, but the result of living in an oppressive society. We are beginning to see that the so-called “disease” is a personal rebellion or an internal revolt against this inhuman system. The Front for the Liberation of the Insane will actively fight against the mental institutions and the brutalization they represent (involuntary confinement, electroshocks, drug use, forced labor, punishments and the constant affronts to our own identity).
