A crying shortage of hospital places – but what is happening in the wards?

From Mad in Finland: It doesn’t make a lot of sense to pay attention only to how many/few places there are in psychiatric wards in our country. It is probably quite easy to add beds to new or old wards. It is also not enough to define or increase the staff’s strengths, because even the number of staff does not tell anything about what the staff does in the department. Above all, attention must be paid to and followed up on what happens in these departments and what kind of treatment process patients can get there.
