Times Like These by the Foo Fighters covered by Chris Paige

This week’s Song of the Week is from Chris Paige, LCSW is a licensed therapist/coach and the founder/executive director of the Institute for Akathisia Research and Prevention, Inc. (www.akathisiainstitute.org) Chris personally suffered from severe medication-induced akathisia for three years losing everything in his life and pledged that if he survived the syndrome he would commit his life to saving others from suffering the same fate.

“This song was selected as it perfectly describes his journey from iatrogenic injury to recovery and rebirth. Since recovering from akathisia, Chris has created a 501 C(3) non-profit called The Institute for Akathisia Research and Prevention. The Institute is dedicated to saving and improving the lives of individuals suffering from medication-induced akathisia. Chris has also appeared on numerous podcasts discussing both his experience with akathisia and his goals for the Institute. He has published an upcoming academic chapter entitled, “Hiding in Plain Sight, Medication-Induced Complex Akathisia Syndrome” (MICAS): An updated Clinical Criteria, Assessment and Treatment Guide and is currently in the initial phases of developing an updated clinical scale to better aid medical and mental health professionals in identifying cases of akathisia.”
