From Mad in Mexico: What if overmedication was the cause of so many mentally ill people? What if the medicines weren’t as effective as it seems? What if taking them in the long term, in some cases, was harmful? What if the origins of the disease are not in each of the affected individuals, but in frustrations conditioned by labor, economic and social aspects? What if the state wants us to be obedient and sedated?

These decades of pharmaceutical pressure, plus the increase in medication and mental diagnoses, have led to the proliferation of studies that have alerted to two issues: that of medication and the possibility that the use of psychotropic drugs in the long term is not effective or that it is even harmful.
