New group ‘non-pathologising therapists of Ireland’ seeks members

From Mad in Ireland: This first meeting will be a chance to meet one another and collectively decide how we might use this space and community to support one another and build a supportive community. A little bit about me: I am a person-centred and experiential therapist working in Dublin. I am inspired by ‘A Disorder for Everyone!’ movement (led by Jo Watson) and the Non-Pathologising Therapy Group run by the UK’s Person-Centred Association’s Jules Elliott, and I wanted to create a community of like-minded counselling professionals in Ireland where we can come together in an Irish context. Originally from the UK but living here with my Irish partner since 2017, I did my counselling and psychotherapy training at Turning Point in Dublin and for my dissertation I did a qualitative study asking the question ‘how does psychiatric diagnosis and the language of “disorder” shape humanistic counselling practice?’
