Mad in Slovenia: The prevailing information available to people from official Slovenian medicine and the media portrays antidepressants as very safe medications. At the margins of the mainstream, however, a more complete picture does occasionally emerge. Thanks to our national broadcaster, the 2023 BBC documentary The Antidepressant Story (freely available at https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001n39z) has been broadcast several times over the past two years. In it, both patients and representatives of the world’s most prestigious psychiatric institutions and associations warned about the overprescribing of antidepressants and the systematic denial and concealment of their darker side by official medicine.
