Dr Cathy Wield (BSc MBBS MRCEM) is an Emergency Physician working in England. She wrote 2 books prior to her disillusionment with bio-medical psychiatry, having survived an erroneous diagnosis of treatment-resistant depression and horrific treatments, including ECT and neurosurgery. From 2016-2019, she lived in Colorado, where she finally found freedom from the control and coercion that ensnared her earlier life.
She recently finished a third book, which trains a more critical eye on her psychiatric treatment and she hopes to publish soon: "Unshackled: The Tale of a Thriving Survivor of Lived Experience of Severe Mental Ilness, and the Difficult Truth Behind a Life in Tatters." Wield is also involved with the new project Survivors And Families Empowered (SAFE).
