    Thanks for your kind reply. I know homeless policy in the Netherlands is quite different from the USA. The cynical answer might be that there is some work done on transforming prisons into therapeutic communities, but I don’t think that’s the solution. The selfmanagement programs I studied show that these programs offer great potential in offering people a way to work on their issues, without it costing to much money (because in fact all you need is housing and maybe one or two coordinating/facilitating staff). When it comes to mental health, there is quite an uprise in peer respites in America, which have been a great inspiration for us in the Netherlands (see peerrespites.net for an overview).
