I offer service-user informed psychological assessment and therapy to support the development of the knowledge, skills and resources thought to promote safe, successful withdrawal from psychiatric medication, in collaboration with your prescriber and other chosen support networks. I draw on extensive knowledge of the research and current resources around psychiatric medication withdrawal, and several different therapeutic approaches known to be helpful for the different troubles these medications are often used to manage, including Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family Systems Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based interventions. I am strongly informed by the expertise of the service-user movement. In addition to studying service-user experiences of managing antipsychotic withdrawal for my doctoral research, my own journey includes lived experience with tapering off SSRI antidepressant medication and family-member experience with antipsychotic withdrawal. I work with people who face challenges that are often described as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychosis, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and more. http://www.facebook.com/EngageAotearoa
