“The Drugging of the American Boy”

Esquire discovers that “By the time they reach high school, nearly 20 percent of all American boys will be diagnosed with ADHD. Millions of those boys will be prescribed a powerful stimulant to “normalize” them. A great many of those boys will suffer serious side effects from those drugs. The shocking truth is that many of those diagnoses are wrong, and that most of those boys are being drugged for no good reason—simply for being boys. It’s time we recognize this as a crisis.”

  1. I’ve stated this many times on this site; I never ran into any student in all my time in school as a student, or in my fifteen years as a high school teacher, who I would have labeled as having ADHD.

I believe that this is a spurious diagnosis that was created by the drug companies and psychiatry to create a very lucrative market for their services. I left teaching in 1988 and the explosion of supposed ADHD took place not long after.

I believe that ADHD is an easy excuse for some parents and many teachers to not have to put up with the antics that kids, especially boys, can create at home and in the classroom. It’s just another form of trying to control groups of people to make them do what society wants them to do. And it’s certainly very lucrative for the drug companies and GP’s and psychiatrists.

ADHD, coupled with that other spurious diagnosis of childhold bipolar, are destroying an entire generation of people. We are destroying creativity and questioning that is part of being a kid and finding your way into the adult world. We are destroying dissent of any form. We are attempting to create robots who follow everything exactly as they are told to do.

Why do so many people fall for this creation of the drug companies and psychiatry? Why do they listen when they’re told to “pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, I am the great and powerful OZ?” Absolutely none of this is rocket science but no one seems to be able to think through it and point out that the “emperor has no clothes!” No one with the exception of those of us who’ve been forced to receive “treatment” from the so-called “mental healty system.”
