A weekly radio show that has been broadcasting from inside a Buenos Aires psychiatric hospital and on the internet since 1991 is featured in CityLab from The Atlantic.

According to CityLab, Argentina’s “Loony Radio” (as it is translated from “Radio La Colifata”) has a dedicated following and participants are mostly ex-patients. “Former patients have their own slots. Silvina reads her own poetry. Others sing or lead discussions. Everybody sits in a circle. Newcomers introduce themselves and bring up the problems they’re facing,” reports CityLab. “Data collected over the years shows that former inpatients who attend the weekly shows have been readmitted at a much lower rate than those who aren’t involved.”
