For the past twelve years, Al Galves, PhD, has been fighting biopsychiatry and advocating for safe, humane, life-enhancing approaches to helping people who are experiencing emotional distress, life crises, difficult dilemmas, spiritual emergencies, terror and overwhelm. He is a member of MindFreedom International and the International Society for Ethical Psychology and Psychiatry (ISEPP). For most of those twelve years Al was a member of the Board of both organizations. From June, 2011 through May 31, 2013, Al served as the Executive Director of ISEPP.
Al is a psychologist who believes that psychology is too valuable to be used only to help people with psychiatric diagnoses but, rather, should be used also to help healthy people become healthier. He is writing books and presenting workshops designed to help people use all of their resources, their so-called “negative” emotions as well as their positives; the parts they don’t like about themselves as well as the parts they do, the parts that are hidden as well as the parts of which they are aware. He is dedicated to helping people use themselves well, so that they can live the way they want to live, love the way they want to love and express themselves the way they want to express themselves.
He is the author of Lighten Up. Dance With Your Dark Side, which can be purchased through Amazon or Barnes and Noble.
