Norbert Wetzel – Long Bio

Norbert Wetzel is an academic teacher and licensed psychologist with extensive experience teaching and practicing systemic Couples and Family Therapy in various academic and private institutional settings in the United States and in Germany. His publications and research are focused on the clinical process of psychotherapy with couples and families, training in family therapy, teaching and learning eco-systemic thinking, cross-cultural issues, applications of family therapy principles and experiences to societal issues (conflict resolution, peace studies), and the philosophical foundation of family therapy. He is currently focused on training “minority” mental health professionals to work with diverse populations in under-served urban areas, developing “Context-centered Family Systems Therapy” (CFST), and integrating Family Systems Therapy and family engagement into primary care and the medical care of chronically ill patients.
