Happy, Joyous, Free: Life After Alcohol, Benzos and Other Drugs

This website was created and designed to help anyone who has been adversely affected primarily by benzodiazepines, other psychotropic drugs, and/or alcohol abuse get to a place of happiness, joy, and freedom.

The site is divided into several sections. The Library and The Story Room feature stories of hope and recovery from withdrawal. The Video Room presents personal video testimonies about withdrawal, and The Caregiver’s Lounge features a video testimony from a caregiver of a person experiencing withdrawal.

The site’s Other Stuff section includes a link to a PDF collection of benzodiazepine withdrawal success stories compiled from multiple sources, as well as a document proposing a new paradigm for assessing and addressing mental and emotional distress.

Mad in America hosts blogs by a diverse group of writers. These posts are designed to serve as a public forum for a discussion—broadly speaking—of psychiatry and its treatments. The opinions expressed are the writers’ own.
