80% of a child’s brain development takes place in the first three years of life. More ACEs in early childhood generally lead to a greater risk of health and social problems. Note that it says ‘in general’ and ‘greater risk’. That is, the number of personally counted ACEs does not determine an exact influence. There are many more influences. For example, how often it happened, how intense it felt, how long it lasted, who was involved and also the gender.
