Everyone Has a Future

From Mad in the Netherlands: In 2005 I was one of the first experiential experts at a forensic psychiatric clinic (tbs clinic) in the Netherlands, for the Eindhoven clinic ‘De Woenselse Poort’. I built up the ‘experience’ from my youth. Years marked by drugs, uninhibited and criminal behaviour. I was placed in a special youth boarding school (BJ) and labeled as unmanageable. This was followed by juvenile prisons, adult prisons, addiction clinics, forensic care, judicially protected housing (BW). It wasn’t until later in life that I went to prison again for another five years that I realized that change was necessary. With my beloved prominently in the background, I took a different path. A long, hard road that ultimately made me who I am today, partly through forensic and addiction care.
