Self-harm Policy: Perspectives of Personal Experience

From Mad in Mexico: First, because the act of self-harm puts survivors in contact with professionals who misunderstand self-harm, since they understand them as individual pathologies. And secondly, because some of those others who have caused self-harm are professionals themselves. It follows, then, that one of the achievements of Self-Harm is to expose the complicity between “psychiatric treatment” and the generation of damage to oneself. And since this complicity continues to be scandalous, today we urgently need a self-harm policy to combat psychiatry.
