Anthem by Leonard Cohen

This week’s Song of the Week was recommended by MIA reader Pam Abbott:

“For me this is a song about acceptance. Of accepting our vulnerability, our ability to live a life that isn’t driven by demands for perfection and to enjoy the unique human being we are. Leonard Cohen brilliantly evokes an atmosphere of connection and hope and drives the message that we are all imperfect, and to recognise that is a truly powerful message!
Every time I hear this song I feel uplifted and calm, not a bad place to be!”

  1. A perfect antidote to Leonard Cohen and a PERFECT song for MIA is the majestic orchestral reproduction of a bad psychosis I have ever heard, sung by a wayward woman rather then a man who sounds like his voice belongs on a cotton wool commercial. This song by PJ Harvey would make Leonard Cohen want to turn into a chicken cross the road. Here is the song by Polly Jean Harvey called Man Sized Sexet.
