From Mad in Finland: Kazimierz Dabrowski (b. 1902, KlarĆ³w; d. 1980, Warsaw) was a Polish psychologist and psychiatrist whose childhood and teenage years were deeply affected by the First World War. He found that for some the war experiences produced insurmountable difficulties and for others the serious crises only seemed to strengthen them. Later in his research, he tried to find out what caused this. Based on his research, Dabrowski developed the theory of positive disintegration, which is not a level or stage theory for recovery, but according to which the development of individuals can happen through crises.
