Evil M.D. by Issa Ibrahim

This week’s Song of the Week is suggested by MIA contributor Issa Ibrahim:

“This is an original song about my experience as a survivor of a 19 year commitment to a psychiatric center in Queens, NY. Not only a balm for my wounded soul it is for anyone out there who have suffered under ‘healers’ who saw no god but themselves.
And anyone who may have seen this character… in passing, at work, as a colleague, in the mirror…
Taken from the 2014 musical documentary ‘Patient’s Rites’, featuring NYC documentarian Geo Geller as Avery Evil, M.D.”

Mad in America hosts blogs by a diverse group of writers. These posts are designed to serve as a public forum for a discussion—broadly speaking—of psychiatry and its treatments. The opinions expressed are the writers’ own.
