Psychiatry: I no longer recognize the authorities of the mental monoculture

The article has been out for about two weeks, but what Esben is referring to is a stagnant psychiatry that continues to offer the same treatment year after year. When we know that 82% of Danes will receive a psychiatric diagnosis during their lives, we, as Esben writes, need to start looking at other options for help than the usual. Likewise, when someone tries to offer something different, we need to draw attention to it so that they are not slaughtered because they dare to deviate from the usual treatment. Here Esben is referring to the ›Randers case‹, where two psychiatrists moved away from the usual treatment with lots of medication and instead offered other forms of help as well. A case that filled the front pages of the newspapers, but when the case was quietly dropped, it was barely mentioned. “
