The legacy of Theodoros Megaloikonomou (1947–2026)

From Mad in Greece: Over the last two centuries, psychiatry acquired enormous power, which many psychiatrists put in the service of political regimes of different forms, but with the same aims: subjugating resistance, oppressing the weakest, and preserving the status quo. There were, however, also psychiatrists who refused to be harnessed to the chariot of the Psy-complex and instead used their knowledge and work in the service of the oppressed, challenging the profession’s regime-like practice. One such psychiatrist was Theodoros Megaloikonomou (1947–2026), who passed away the day before yesterday.
