Aimee Inomata, PhD, is a writer, researcher and reformed academic who uses her training in philosophy and literature to critically analyze the underlying rhetoric of psychiatry and mental health. After witnessing her partner’s treatment and struggles as a ‘patient’ within forensic psychiatry and by the legal system in New Zealand, she has recently written The Special Patient – an account of his experience and recovery. She is interested, above all, in questioning established truths. She can be reached at thespecialpatient.co.nz
