For Scientific American, researcher Jamil Zaki highlights a form of positive conformity: the contagiousness of kindness. “By emphasizing empathy-positive norms, we may be able to leverage the power of social influence to combat apathy and conflict in new ways. And right now, when it comes to mending ideological divides and cultivating kindness, we need every strategy we can find.”

  1. I do agree kindness can be contagious. But negative human behaviors can also be contagious. Which is why the rule by terror that usurped the U.S. after 9/11/2001 is destroying this country. The greed inspired attacks on humans by corporations and industries is also destroying this country. Absolutely we need to take this world in a kinder direction. But I do not believe that will happen unless power is taken out of the hands of the psychopathic corporations, and we return to a government which function by and for the people.
